by Vanderhoven7 indo you remember some of the weird and wacky stuff emanating from the watchtower society?
let's make a list from memory that we can use to inject a little humor into our discussions with jehovah's witnesses.

I can remember my mom telling me that at the 1950 Yankee Stadium assembly the speaker (I can't remember who it was now) saying "What would you say if I told you that we have princes here among us today!?" that a sizeable amount of the audience rushed forward to the edge of the stands to peer down into the baseball diamond expecting to see the ancient worthies resurrected there in front of their eyes.
You think "were they really that gullible or stupid?" and the answer is yes, because it's what their leadership had been telling them for the previous 25+ years.

Praying for the Government.
by Lost in the fog ini was thinking about the fact that this year marks queen elizabeth ii having given 70 years of service to the british people.. "i therefore exhort, first of all, that supplications, prayers, intercessions, offerings of thanks, be made concerning all sorts of men, concerning kings and all those who are in high station; in order that we may go on leading a calm and quiet life with full godly devotion and seriousness.”—1 timothy 2:1, 2.. can i ask, in all the years that you were attending jw meetings did you even once hear a prayer of any sort be made from the platform relating to the higher government authorities, especially the offering of thanks for them not clamping down on the organisation like other dictatorial countries?.
in all my years i don't know of one occasion where i heard a prayer in honour of the king (2 peter 2:17) or her majesty the queen.. another example of straying from what the bible actually said that christians should be doing..

By the way, books which weren't available for free 6 years ago are available now.
For example, Apocalypse Delayed, can be downloaded for free here -

It's possible other books listed in this thread are also available on this site.

Memorial invite
by JoenB75 innow they start inviting to their "commemorate the death of jesus" event.
it always makes me a bit sad.
i don’t think i could endure to watch it myself today.

I remember in the old days when the Memorial ended our presiding servant would pour any wine left in the bottle down the drain or flush it down the loo on the principle that it had been blessed and prayed over so could not be treated as ordinary vino. (I never understood why he had no problems flushing such blessed wine down a toilet mind you.)
Nowadays I understand that all the undrunk wine is poured back into the bottle and returned to whoever bought it, so they can enjoy drinking it at home later in the week.
If you were ever on hall cleaning the weekend after a Memorial you usually would find the unleavened bread in the wastepaper basket behind the literature cabinet.
I told that to a friend who belongs to the Roman Catholic church and they were appalled - but that's because they go to the other extreme and believe that it is the actual flesh and blood of Jesus.

Lies, Damn Lies.

so apparently robert hendricks the spin doctor of the wt society has been proudly telling news channels how wonderful the wt org has been during the 2 years of the pandemic, checking in with each and every member to meet their needs on a weekly basis.. except, based on the comments of former jw friends on facebook, it's news to most of them since they are screaming out that they were totally neglected by the elders/ms throughout most of that period.
a couple even said that because of being ignored by the congregation during this time, that they have walked away completely.

But I guess the majority will feel that the eldership was too busy learning how to work Zoom that they didn't have the time to check on the flock.
I remember that the elders manual used to be called "Shepherd the Flock of God" - so I do wonder how many elders were ever trained in how to shepherd and told that it means long hours of work and actually involves contacting people?

I have heard this critism of satanic minions among JWs here in the UK. Mind you it was from the same JW sister who used to quote the loony David Icke on her Facebook page, so a lot of the congregation would have given her ideas a wide berth anyway. Mind you David Icke's lunacy is no better or worse than that of the Watchtower's.

It's similar to asking them "what religion does God belong to?"
God, assuming there is one, is surely accessible by the whole world if they want to talk to him.
But the JWs will go to great lengths to try and convince you that J-God must only belong to their religion and no-one else's. He's their God so "hands off you can't have him. He's mine!" Like squabbling children in the school playground. Lol.

The Crazy World of Online Deliveries
by Simon inyou order something online, and get the notification it's been shipped.. "ooh look, it's only coming from 500 miles away and there's a major route from there to here.
i bet it'll be put on a truck or maybe a train and here in a day or two.
great!".

What makes me laugh with Amazon is that if you order an obscure item you're told that it has to come from China and will take 13 weeks to arrive.
But if you sign up to Amazon Prime membership this obscure Chinese item can be delivered within 24 hours!
Do they have a warehouse stuffed with these once in a million requested items - or do they have a speedy way of getting it from the Far East overnight?

Watchtower Study on 5th December.
by Lost in the fog inthe wt study for this week is all about disfellowshipping.
in an early paragraph it said "think how heartbroken jehovah must have been when members of his own angelic family turned their back on him!".
however when you think about it, when this happened according to the wt teaching, jehovah still engaged with satan in the heavens (book of job) and had conversations with him about what was going on in the earth.. so why do the wt org practice shunning when jehovah god obviously didn't?.

Because it's a cult...
